Jake was always a very sweet person. The memories I hold dearest are the ones of him making me laugh. That was one thing he knew how to do, and you could tell that fact by looking at him in photographs, the way everyone´s spirit is made brighter in his presence, captured in pure joy. But for me personally, I had the honor of experiencing his brilliant wits whether that be during Y club preparation and trips, or just passing in the hallways, he just possessed an incredible sense of humor, and although I was never close to him, he quickly made his presence in my heart, and I know I´m absolutely not the only one.

At the vigil, Fr. Jeff shared his mom´s letter to him on Christian retreat, pointing out how he was always one to absorb everything around, which describes him perfectly, but on top of that, I believe that Jake was also someone who could easily and wholeheartedly BE absorbed. His spirit is contagious, and I find comfort in the fact that it will never leave us.

In his loss, I will wear my Holy Cross connection with pride, because he was one of the greatest to walk those halls, and to have shared the space in which he illuminated is an honor.

I remember Jake and Aiden loving to play in the snow on our street, they would make snow tunnels as children and play outside with Yuki.
