You are never forgotten brother!!!

Jake was a great guy. I met him when he was just out of basic training at 2/187 Inf in Ft Campbell Ky. He and I were both M60 gunners. He was a good buddy and all around really nice guy. I think of him often and was so sad to hear of his loss. I have a picture of he and I together that I look at often to remember him. He was a true hero. - SPC Jonathan Luna

5 years, looked down at my wrist yesterday and couldnt believe how fast time goes. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jake right before our deployment on rear-d and then make our long trip Iraq together. To his loved ones, Jake is remebered and talked about often. He was class act. NEVER FORGET!

I knew Jake only briefly just before deployment, he was always doing Staff Duty with a couple of buddies of mine who were being medically discharged. I spent quit a bit of time hanging out at the Battalion staff duty desk with Jake, Jesse and Jeff. Jake was always laughing joking and having a good time. I was shocked one day while waiting at a bus stop on LSA Anaconda and noticed a hand written RIP message on a memorial wall that read SGT Jacob H Demand Sept 14, 2004 since as far as I knew Jake was on his way out of the Army when we left. I bought a KIA bracelet when I returned from Iraq and have worn it everyday of my life since i purchased it. I'm one person who will never forget that some of us paid the ultimate sacrifice.

To the family of Sgt. Jacob H. Demand:
Jacob gave the ultimate sacrifice and will be held in the hearts of Americans forever. I cannot and will not let our fallen heroes be forgotten. My deepest sympathy to you. "Some gave all."

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt Demand. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience and for that we can never say thank you enough.

On Saturday, June 14th (Flag Day) there will be an event in Topeka, KS called The Reading. Volunteers will be reading the names of the fallen from Iraq and Afghanistan. I'll be Reading Sgt. Demand's name. Each Reader is given a page of 50 names - first name, middle initial, last name, date of death and home state. After each name a bell will toll. The event is expected to take approximately 6 hours to complete. It's important the family know of this event in memory of their loved one. Thank you Sgt. Demand for your service to our country. I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. You haven't been forgotten. My condolences to his family and friends.

I was moved by the passing of your son. I can't imagine your pain, but I do know what it is to love deeply being the mother of two and grandmother of four!

As mothers, we are the only ones who can say that we carried our children close to our hearts. Even though Jacob is gone from this earth he will forever be in your heart! "...weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning..." I thank God because He "...wiped away all tears from Jacob's eyes..."

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I have only just begun this journey and may not have known your loved one personally.



I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one July 8, 2006. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.



As always I read (and cry) through the memorials of our lost hero’s, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I am amazed and take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Jacob have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine hero.
