Jacob Douglass Stephen Hale, age 29, of Carnegie, PA, unexpectedly went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, November 15, 2025. He was greeted by his beloved grandmothers, Beverly and Anna Marie.

He was born on December 26, 1995, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the son of Brian and Terri (Slusar) Hale. He grew up in Tionesta, PA, where many friends came to play basketball on the driveway court of his home.

Jacob was a 2014 graduate of Venango Catholic High School in Oil City, PA. He attended Pitt at Bradford and Point Park University of Pittsburgh to study psychology. While attending college in Pittsburgh, he met the love of his life, Rachel Zombeck.

They were married on November 12, 2022, at Renfrew, PA. Jacob and Rachel had just celebrated their third anniversary.

Jacob graduated from the Beaver County Community College Police Academy and was employed as a police officer for Stowe Township, Allegheny County. He was well liked by his chief and fellow officers.

With determination and hard work, Jacob excelled at all things. Whether playing the piano, studying for school work, playing high school basketball, snowboarding the slopes, landscaping his yard, taking photos with his drone, to loving his family and friends, Jacob shined!

His love of sports was well noted from his favorite Notre Dame college football to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel. His parents, Brian and Terri, and sisters, Lauren (Lonnie) Hale and Susana (Milton) Matute-Gonzalez. Three nieces, Lea and Brianna Gonzalez and Margot Wiltrout and a nephew, Jack Witrout. Additional family members include his grandfather and namesake, Stephen Hale, his in-laws, Frank and Carol Zombeck, Ashley (Drew) Wiltrout and Frankie Zombeck, as well as Margaret (Louis) Partee and Andrea Zombeck. His aunts and uncles, Stacey (Joe) Barnes, Susan (Brian) Reib, Bruce (Denise) Hale, and James (Mary Kay) Slusar, several cousins and numerous great uncles and aunts. Two "Man's Best Friends" - Crosby and Geno.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Beverly (Rickenbrode) Hale, Mitchell and Anna Marie (Skerczak) Slusar, and a special great grandmother, Mary Lou (Johnston) Hale.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township) PA 15108. Jacob worked for me during the summer months at Saint Joseph Church and Calvary Cemetery, Oil City, Pennsylvania. Jacob was a hard worker and willing to do whatever was asked of him. Jacob was always smiling! His fellow employs, Neil McMahon and Stephen Fornof were great friends, and I know they had some great times together! May the choir of angels come to greet you at heavens door! I pray you and Stephen meet each other! My deepest condolences to Terri, Brian and Lauren! God's Love and Blessings! Kimberlee Fornof
