Jacob Richard Del Hierro, age 20, died at North Suburban Hospital on April 26, 2020 of an accidental overdose.
Born July 28th, 1999 in Denver, Colorado, he lived in Thornton, Colorado with his family and attended the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business. At DU, Jacob was involved in numerous programs, including Excelling Leaders Institute, (ELI), Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) and Undergraduate Student Government's Diversity Committee. Jacob was a Christian, a Democrat, a volunteer, a student and an advocate for underrepresented and disadvantaged communities.
Survivors include his father Chris, mother Valerie, big brother Marcus, little brother Noah, little sister Reina, sister-in-law Alondra, grandparents Carla, Colleen, Vickey, Mike, and Phil, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends far too numerous to list individually.
Due to current global conditions, services will be postponed until we can all celebrate together. It is the family's deepest desire that anyone who would have attended a celebration now, will still join us when conditions allow, as Jacob deserves a proper memorial.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund is being established in coordination with the University of Denver to honor Jacob's love of the University of Denver, leadership, mentorship, and underserved members of our community.
Please follow the Facebook group "Remembering Jacob" to share your stories and find future details of the scholarship fund at https://www.facebook.com/groups/755271318342649/?ref=share
