Jacob Burns Skaggs, 38, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born on November 28, 1985 in Hammond, Indiana, a son of Clelly Jay Skaggs and Crystal Starr Blake Skaggs.
Jacob worked at Family Dollar Distribution Center and had previously worked as a boilermaker.
He was a graduate of Rowan County Senior High School, where he played in the marching band and was a member of the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene.
Jacob enjoyed playing chess and video games and hunting. He was a car enthusiast, especially Dodge and he loved the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William H. and Phyllis Jean Skaggs, his maternal grandfather, Leonard Blake and two aunts, Edith Fields and Theresa Komisarcik.
Survivors include his parents, Clelly Jay and Crystal Skaggs, two sons, Jeremiah Vincent Skaggs and Landon Phoenix Skaggs, three daughters, Luna Beth Skaggs, Cortana Marie Skaggs and Alaya Rose Skaggs, one brother, Justin Skaggs and his wife Andriea, two sisters, Veronica Skaggs and Holly Skaggs, his maternal grandmother, Jean E. Blake, six nieces, three nephews, one great-nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 26, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Larry Compton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville.
Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Clelly Jay Skaggs, Justin Skaggs, Jeremiah Skaggs, Landon Skaggs, Zach Skaggs, Kenny Stamper, Randy Pelfrey and Josh Wheeler.
