Jacob Robert Whaley, also known as "Whales" and recognized as the notorious Kenosha street artist "BLICK," unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the age of 27 in McHenry, IL. Born on March 7, 1996, in Libertyville, IL, he was the son of Michael and Deidra (neé Powers) Whaley. Jacob spent his early years in Bristol, WI, later residing in Kenosha, WI, before settling recently in McHenry, IL.
Jake, as he was fondly called, had a profound passion for forging friendships, bringing laughter to people's lives, and offering help whenever he could. Other interests included creating art, frisbee golf, playing pool, listening to music, and most importantly sharing his love for everyone.
Survivors include his parents: Mike Whaley (C.J. Schwager) of Lake Villa, IL, and Deidra Whaley of McHenry, IL. He is also survived by four step-siblings: Lexi (Brandon) Jones of Garner, NC, Drew Benning of Fox Lake, IL, and Ashleigh Schwager and Aaron Schwager, both of Lake Villa, IL. Additionally, Jake is remembered by his paternal grandparents, Roberta Bajorek of Round Lake Beach, IL, William Whaley of Hainesville, IL, and additional grandparents Steve and Sandy Chinn of Bristol, WI. He is also survived by aunts, and uncles, specifically William Whaley of Lake Villa, IL, Clyde Powers of Round Lake, IL (whom he shared a special closeness with), Kim (Mike) Callaghan of Gurnee, IL, Lorna Barry of Gurnee, IL, Amanda Bajorek, and many other cousins, relatives and friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Duane and Virginia (neé Petkovsek) Powers.
A visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, located at 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83)
