Jacque Charles Olander

Jacque "Jack" Olander, age 65, of Cottage Grove passed peacefully on February 7, 2025, surrounded and serenaded by loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be at 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S.; Cottage Grove, MN with a visitation from 3-5 PM prior to the service.

Jack was born on October 8, 1959 to Willis and Shirley (Roth) Olander in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jack grew up in St. Paul Park and has been a lifelong resident of the area. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Danette Kenney on October 16, 1982. Jack worked as a Maintenance Engineer for District 833 for over 25 years. 

Jack was involved in the Martial Arts for much of his life, achieving the rank of Sandan (Third Degree Black Belt) in Seven Dragons De Los Reyes Chinese Kempo. He not only honed his martial arts skills, but also shared them with the next generation of Kempo acolytes by teaching the techniques of this art to youth of all ages. Jack loved rock music and especially loved the Beatles, he also sang at local venues in rock bands in his youth. Over the years, Jack enjoyed following the Vikings, coaching football and teaching karate, because of this he became a mentor to many. In 2018 Jack's heart melted when he became a grandpa to his precious granddaughter, Raelyn; spending time with her and his frequent calls with her became his most cherished moments in recent years. He will be missed for his great sense of humor and his mischievous, energetic and loving spirit.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Danette; sons Ryan (Erin) and Ren (Ashlee); adored granddaughter Raelyn; brother Bo (Diana) and many nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his parents Willis and Shirley Olander and sister Cynthia Hodgin.
