Jacqueline Rosalsky Byron died peacefully in the early morning hours of December 11, 2025, in Bridgeport Connecticut. Jacky was born in Brooklyn NY to Nellie and Michael Rosalsky and raised with her sister and brother, Sonya Rosalsky Kleider and Ivan Rosalsky. She attended Brooklyn College where she met and married Alan Byron. They moved to Kew Gardens, NY where she lived for over 70 years. Alan and Jacky had two children, Barbara Byron and Elizabeth Byron and one grandchild, Liliana Byron (m. Matt Haupt ). Jacky was an incredibly creative person who had a flair for decorating and art which she pursued throughout life. She loved clothes and was never without one of her signature scarfs. Jacky returned to school and became a teacher in her 30s. She held several roles but primarily taught kindergarten and 3rd grade at PS 146 in Howard Beach. She loved teaching and adored her unchkie punchkies (as she and Alan called her students). After she was widowed in her 50s, Jacky met Emmanuel Berman and formed a second partnership that lasted another 40 years. She and Mannie traveled the world together. Jacky was a lifelong learner, worked until her 70s, and after retirement continued to pursue her interests voraciously and avidly. She swam most days, devoured books, took courses, painted, and audited university classes. She and Mannie began to spend the winters in San Miguel de Allende Mexico and then in Laguna Woods, California. At 98 she reluctantly agreed to move closer to her family and spent the last 3 1/2 years of her life in Connecticut. While she had slowed down physically, Jacky remained sharp, opinionated, politically aware, funny and creative. She was always reading at least three books at a time as well as the NY Times daily up until her last few weeks of life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and a loyal friend and was very proud to have lived 102 full and rewarding years.
