Jacqueline Ann Hofstedt was born on February 27, 1936 to Albin and Lucille Hofstedt in Wheaton, Minnesota. After graduating from Wheaton High School, she continued her education at Moorhead State University obtaining her three-year teaching degree. Jackie began her career by teaching fourth grade in Ortonville, Minnesota. She married Bobby Dean Ertsgaard on June 7, 1958 at the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton.
The couple moved to Virginia, Minnesota where Bob was employed on the iron range. Their first child, Lori, was born in Virginia in 1959. In 1960 they returned to Wheaton where Bob returned to work at the elevator. In 1962 their second child, Todd, was born. Jackie continued her teaching career in 1964 at the Pearson Elementary School teaching kindergarten. Jackie completed her education at the University of Minnesota, Morris where she got her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education. She retired from teaching in 1999. She taught kindergarten for many years before graduating to first grade.
Jackie was on a bowling team, belonged to church circles and a birthday club. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with Bob, their children and grandchildren. She was very involved in the church and senior citizens. She moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota in 2019 where she maintained her own apartment until entering the Lutheran Brethren Assisted Living. Later she entered the LB Broen Nursing Home where she passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2017; her parents; along with aunts and uncles.
She is survived by daughter, Lori (Jeff) Kress of Fergus Falls, MN; son, Todd (Melissa) Ertsgaard of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren: Lesley (Chad) Braaten, Fargo, ND; Grant (Amanda) Kress, Fargo, ND; Christopher (Rebecca) Ertsgaard, Champlin, MN; Andrew (Allison) Ertsgaard, Hudson, WI; and Danielle (Zachary) Henderson, Big Rapids, MI; great grandchildren: Kenna, Carly and Quinley Braaten and Tucker, Cameron and Lydia Kress; brother, Alden (Brynn) Hofstedt of Coon Rapids, MN; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
