Jacqueline Beck Foutz, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on November 30, 2025 following a courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease.
Born February 12, 1937, in Albany, CA to Jay Vern and Faye (Ellison) Beck, Jackie was the fourth of eight children. In her youth she lived in many places as her father worked in California, Idaho, Pennsylvania and Utah and was raised in a faithful Church of Latter-day Saints home. Her testimony of the gospel was developed in small home-based branches of the church. In 1955, Jackie graduated from Brigham Young High School in Provo, Utah. While at B.Y. High, she met and dated Edwin L. Foutz. They were married in 1959 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
In 1960 she graduated from Brigham University with a BS in Elementary Education, followed shortly by the birth of their first daughter, Rebecca Lyn (Becky). Over the next two years, Jackie taught elementary school in Provo while Ed finished his degree. In 1964 they welcomed their second child, their son Jay Edwin (Jed).
The family of four moved to the Four Corners area on the Navajo Reservation, starting at Teec Nos Pos, AZ., then to Shiprock, NM. The family continued to grow, welcoming Kimberly Ann in 1966 and Elissa in 1969. Jackie enjoyed these years in Shiprock with her growing young family, supported by her ward, many of whom became life-long friends. In 1970, Ed and Jackie moved their family to Farmington, NM where they settled down to raise their family. Jackie served in many capacities in the Farmington 7th ward and valued the friendships and spiritual strength they provided.
In 1984, Ed and Jackie moved to Paradise Valley, AZ. Arizona quickly felt like home and new wonderful friendships were made. Jackie would often say on her nightly walks around their neighborhood how lucky and blessed she was to live in such a beautiful place.
Jackie's life was centered on her family and her love of the gospel and to serving them both. She was happiest in her kitchen cooking and baking for her family or to serve others. Jackie enjoyed painting, puzzles and handiwork, especially needlepoint. She stitched Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren. Jackie was an avid reader and loved getting lost in a well-written book. Jackie's kind spirit and sharp sense of humor will be missed by so many.
Survived by her husband, Ed, her children Jed and his wife Samantha of Santa Fe, NM. Kimberly of Boulder, CO and Elissa of South Jordan, UT, her sister Bonnie Studdert of St George UT, John Beck of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as her 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and daughter Becky Smith and granddaughter Gabriella Gelb.
