Jacqueline Mezell Hawkins, age 72, of Columbus, passed away on January 30, 2025.
Born on July 12, 1952, in Columbus, OH, Jacqueline was the daughter of Obia Lee Hemphill and Martha Jean Carter. She had a passion for arts and crafts and found joy in gardening. A devoted Christian, she was a faithful Mt. Period Baptist Church member.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Jonathan Hawkins Sr., and her cherished family. She leaves behind her two sons, Malcolm King (Anita) and Jonathan Hawkins Jr., as She was also a beloved grandmother to Mersadez Hemphill, Aaliyah Hemphill, Jonathan Hemphill, and her granddaughter, Abigail. Dear friend Linda “Cookie Mom” Hemphill. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins will treasure her memory.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ernest Hemphill, and her parents, Obia Lee Hemphill and Martha Jean Carter. And the beloved Aunt Ruth S. Wright.
A memorial service will be held on February 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus.
