Sincere condolences and sympathy to you and your family! I am a former student at SJA and studied French all four years there. Madame Labat was my French teacher and chaperone on my first trip to France as a senior at SJA in 1988. I will always remember her joie de vivre and smile! I know she will be dearly missed by many!
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her, and may she rest in peace.

Condoléances to your family. Jacqueline was one of the most inspirational guardian of the the Louisiana French Language and culture that I have ever met. She will be missed. Love. Roxane Coron. Mr. Wade, Michelle, and Christine, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of her rolling her eyes as I walked up the driveway offerring whatever it was I was selling for school and to borrow your set of encyclopedias which were somehow always better than ours.

I worked with Jackie and the ALCFES gang during my years at CODOFIL. What a sweet woman. She always brought such intelligence, enthusiasm, humor and calm to whatever she was doing. And I was always impressed by her rapport with her students and their mutual respect. Merci Jackie pour tout ce que t'as fait.

Mme Labat was one of my French teachers at SJA, and she was always one of my favorite teachers. She was part of the reason I decided to become a French teacher myself. I always enjoyed catching up with her at various French functions through the years. I still called her "Mme Labat," even though she laughed and told me to call her "Jackie." I often tell my own students about her, her class, her sense of humor, and her high expectations for us. I went to France with her my junior year, and it was such a treasured memory for me. She wanted us to see and experience it all!! She was truly one of the good ones and will be missed. Rest in Peace, Mme Labat.

Mrs. Labat was one of my favorite teachers. Her energy in the classroom made learning fun. As I would run in to her from time to time over the years I marveled at how that energy never waivered. She made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. I am honored to have had her as my teacher.
