Jacqueline Sue (Caveny) Leferink, age 66, passed away at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Orange City, Florida. Jacquie was born April 9, 1958, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Billie (Miller) Caveny.
She grew up in Bunker Hill, Illinois with her four younger brothers and graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1976. She went on to attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, where she earned a bachelor's degree in television and radio.
She married David Anthony Leferink on April 7, 1984, and they had two children together. After being a stay-at- home mother for a time, she went back to school to obtain her teaching certificate. She began her educating career first as a tutor in 2001 and then in the classroom in 2003, impacting hundreds of students in Catholic and public schools in Washington, Texas, and Florida. At the time of her passing, she was a tutor at Huntington Learning Center in Longwood and Millenium Middle School in Sanford. Jacquie enjoyed music, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Notre Dame football, NASCAR, the occasional trip to the casino and being the life of the party wherever she went.
Over the last few years, she most enjoyed being called Grandma of a special grandson. Jacquie is survived by her husband of 40 years David; her mother Billie; her children Charles and Meaghan (Becca Guest); her four brothers Mike (Dawn) Caveny, Kevin (Kathy), James (+Sherri), and Sean; her grandson Christopher; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
A funeral Mass for Jacqueline will be held at All Souls Historic Chapel in Sanford on Friday,
November 29, 2024, at 12:00 noon. Visitation will take place one hour beforehand at the historic
chapel.
Jacquie's mortal remains will then go to Illinois for another funeral Mass and interment
at a date TBD.
