Jackie McFarland

Jacqueline "Jackie" McFarland, 83, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Elwood and Danna Winter.
She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1960. Upon graduating, she was recognized and awarded with a 12-year perfect attendance.
She had several jobs over her lifetime. Upon graduating, she worked at the former Alpha Finance Co. She worked for the Ohio County Sheriff's Office as a tax deputy for 25 years. Upon her retirement, she took a temporary job at the YWCA of Wheeling in the domestic violence unit. She worked at H & R Block (Elm Terrace) as a senior tax analyst, where she just completed her 28th year.
She loved to go swimming at what she called "Benwood Beach" pool. She loved spending time with her family. She loved the holidays. She was a member of Christian Mothers at St. Alphonsus Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Yvonne Kucera, a great-granddaughter Ashlyn Merke, and her dear friend Barbara Dzwigala.
She is survived by her loving husband Jerry McFarland of 63 years. They were married on July 14, 1962. Her children Shari McFarland (Mark Gornik), her sons C.J. and Danny (Shelley Quinn). Her nine grandchildren Stefanie (Charlie) White, Jacquelyn Cox, Cassandra Delbrugge, Ann (Matt) Morgan, Joseph (Misty) Merkle, Chas (Alyssa) McFarland, John McFarland (fiance Ava Peroni), Sean McFarland, and Brandon McFarland. Her 11 great-grandchildren including Canyon Mason, who they have raised since he was a toddler. Layah McBride, Timber White, Giovanni and Augustus Saunders, Ezekiel Lewis, Kayden, Corbin, and Evaley Merkel, Rhea McFarland and Elisa Contrares (fiance Devin).
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 1-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 18 at 11 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
