Jacqueline Wheelaghan Mehring

Jacqueline Wheelaghan Mehring, 70, of Burlington, NC passed away at her residence on Monday, June 2, 2025.
A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Jacqui was the wife of Wesley Clark Mehring, who survives, and the daughter of "Jack" Brydon Wheelaghan and Gertrud Rosa Naschitzki, both deceased. Jacqui came to North Carolina to attend N.C. State University where she achieved her Masters Degree in Design. She worked for many years in the textile industry as a designer, traveling to Germany and China, and later transitioned to horticultural and arts therapy.
Jacqui formerly worked at Alamance Regional Medical Center, transforming a courtyard for patients into a healing garden. She taught fiber arts classes at Hirsch Wellness Network and the Center for Creative Aging, as well as volunteering her time at the Friendship Center of Alamance and Hospice in Burlington. Jacqui loved art and horticulture and from that came a passion to help heal patients during their recovery.
Among her friends and neighbors, she was known for her beautiful garden, a haven for birds and pollinators, and her endless creativity as an artist. From knitting to tapestry, punch needle to painting, Jacqui loved learning and sharing her work with others.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Louisa J. Dang, and husband David Dang; grandchildren, Fiona and James; and six sisters and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 14, between 1 and 3 p.m. at Jacqui and Wesleys home garden, where friends and loved ones are welcome to drop in and pay respects. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Jacqueline, please visit our Tree Store.
