Jacqueline Peters

Peters, Jacqueline Portage formerly of Gobles, Michigan Jacqueline S. Peters, age 88 of Portage formerly of Gobles, died on February 10, 2023. She was born June 23, 1934, in Monroe, Michigan, the daughter of LeRoy and Jeannette (Storr) Phillips. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. In high school, she went out cruising with friends and met Timothy Peters. They were married on December 17, 1955, in Kalamazoo. Jackie received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in Social Work. She started a career in social work and found that she enjoyed caring for her home and family full time. She was a Paw Paw Hospital volunteer with the Lakeview Auxiliary and worked with Meals on Wheels. Jackie was active in the Gobles community where they raised their children. Her family includes her husband of 67 years, Timothy Peters; children: Timothy II (Sandra) Peters and Ann (Vince Haag) Peters and grandchildren: Nicholas (Nikki) Peters and Ashley (Ted) Caulkins; great-grandchildren: Madeline, Michael, Hazel, and Harrison; and nieces and nephews: Jane (Dan) Schuur, Tom (Sue) Brady, and Joe (Lien) Brady. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Brady. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a time to visit with her family will be held from 1:30 PM-3:00 PM, followed by the memorial service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
