My condolences to Woody and the family. I remember Mrs. Pride as someone who helped us at Crockett Elementary in the mid to late 60's when starting out with a plastic musical instrument that had holes and we blew through it and put our fingers over the holes. I don't recall the name of the plastic instrument, but, it was the beginning of my interest in music and later joining the band at Lamar Junior High, Lincoln Junior High and on to the McAllen High Symphonic Band. I recall Mrs. Pride taking a keen and caring interest in all of us and that is what I remember most to this day. I believe the comments from the other contributors are well said.

I will always remember you as my 6th grade music teacher. I took my father home to Kansas to rest next to my mother for eternity the day that you went to join them. Another beautiful angel now resides in heaven with my parents, and we have lost another beautiful treasure here on earth. My heart goes out to your family, and one day I can only hope that we all join you in the symphony of the seraphim.
There is no doubt that you are one of the Lord's brightest angels He has ever loaned this earth. And it was a much more beautiful world because of you.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Jackie Pride. She will always be remembered as a mentor for us string teachers, instilling in us the love of sharing and growing orchestras in the schools.
