Jacqueline Adele Welsh

January 16, 1933 – March 14, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce that our amazing mother's journey of life is over, Jacqueline Adele (Nicholson) Welsh died on March 14, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. Jackie, as she was better known, was born an original 'fashionista' on January 16, 1933 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Everett and Willa Nicholson. Her siblings were older brother Charles Everett Nicholson and younger sister Sandra Kay (Nicholson) Larsen.

Jackie attended Blackwell High School, in Blackwell Oklahoma and attended college at Oklahoma State (formerly Oklahoma A&M), in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Swimming held a special place in her life and she was often at the pool swimming and performing her Lifeguard duties.

Jackie married Gary Phillip Welsh in 1953 and followed him around the world wherever the U.S. Army took them. Over 50 years of marriage, Jackie and Gary were the proud parents of five children. Daughters Nicole Adele Cabral (Jim), Debra Delorus Arnold (John), Sons Gary Phillip Welsh (Lisa), James Newton Welsh (Sofia), and John Forrest Welsh (Leslie). Their grandchildren are Brooks Vandivort, Parker Vandivort, Jessica Willman, Amanda Welsh, Joshua Welsh, James Welsh, Ryan Welsh, Madison Welsh, Johnny Welsh, Brooke Welsh, and Kylie Welsh. Great-grandchildren are Darnell Vandivort, Cooper Vandivort, Bryant Cole Willman, Norah Vandivort, Willa Vandivort, and Ellie Vandivort.

Known for her Catalina swimwear, smart business attire and Italian leather shoes, her closet was a favorite place for her daughters Nicole and Debra. Her business acumen was a huge influence on her sons Gary, Jim and John.

Jackie was a consummate professional and began her professional career in banking at the First State Bank in Five Points as a secretary and finished her career as Vice President of the Bank of El Paso.

Community involvement was a passion for Jackie and she served in the Officers' Wives Club, The Society of Military Widows and the Military Officers Association of America at Fort Bliss. She also served on the boards of the Gold Star Wives Club at Fort Bliss and Girl Scouts USA.

Our family would like to thank the Bartlett Assisted Living Facility and Home Instead for their compassionate staff, the amazing Hospice staff whose guidance was invaluable and the many kind and selfless caregivers who gave our mother loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Private family services will be held on Thursday March 26th.
