Jacquelyn was born in Hall County, Texas, on July 23, 1934. She stepped into the arms of Jesus from her home in
Iola, Texas, on February 10, 2025. Daughter and only child of Lillie Zora Darby and Edward "Pete" Crump, she is predeceased by her loving mother, Lillie Zora Darby, father Pete Crump, Aunt Frankye John Darby, and Cousin Bill Darby Echols. She is survived by her son, Edward L. Beene and his wife, Paula Sorrells-Beene; son Bill Van Beene, granddaughter Jennifer R. Beene and grandson Jesse J.M. Sorrells-Beene. Jacquie grew up in Brownfield, Texas, and attended Texas Tech University. She loved making ceramics, crafting Christmas decorations, and creating flower arrangements. While raising her sons she worked in a flower shop and as a substitute teacher. She became an amazing artist, painting pictures which brought her and others continuous joy. In 1979, after her sons were grown and gone, she worked behind-the-scenes at a radio station. Then in 1984, she started full-time as an administrative assistant to the regional superintendent for SWEPCO in Shreveport, Louisiana, retiring in the early 1990's. She and three of her co-workers called themselves The Golden Girls-they enjoyed years of adventurous and exciting times together.
Always cheerful in her younger years, she woke her boys every morning singing "Good morning to you, Good morning to you …" She loved to sing and praise the Lord.
Her life was built around her relationship with Jesus. Jacquie loved the Lord and spent many years teaching the Bible and sharing Jesus with others. Her ministry affected the lives of many who called her teacher, mentor, and beloved friend. As a mighty prayer warrior, she would take the hand of every medical professional who entered her room-at a doctor's appointment, x-ray, ultrasound, blood draw…you name it-and pray for them, thanking God for the work they do and asking God to bless them and their families. Lives were touched and changed because of her boldness and willingness to express God's love to anyone and everyone she met. She prayed for the grumpy salesclerk in the dress shop and the burly man with a broken arm in Michael's; she prayed with and for friends when they came to visit; she prayed with and for family members coming and going, welcoming them and then sending them off with God's blessings and travel mercies.
In 2008, Jacquie packed up her life in Shreveport and moved 1521 miles to Bristol, Connecticut, where she lived with her son, Ed, and his family until they moved back to Texas in 2020. She made several lifetime friends there and continued to serve the Lord in her eighties.
Jacquie longed to be with Jesus, and He welcomed her Home on February 10, 2026. Although she has left a hole in our home and in our hearts, she is happy and healthy, and exactly where she wants to be.
In lieu of flowers, Jacquie requested a donation to her favorite charity,
Samaritan's Purse.
