Jacquelyn Kellin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rowe Funeral Home and Crematory - Grand Rapids on Mar. 10, 2026.
Jacquelyn (Jackie) May Kellin (née Rhodehamel) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of 92.

Jackie was born on August 13, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kellin; her parents, Jake Rhodehamel (Blanche) and Norva Ailene Carlein (Jim); and her sisters, Joannie and Diane.

Jackie attended SouthRidge High School. Later, while working at Minnesota Mutual, she met her husband, Don. Together they raised five children: Jenny (Mark), Eric (Patty), Diane (Steve), David (Patty), and John (Kelly).

She will be greatly missed by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom received her handmade felted Christmas stockings and Christmas tree skirts.

Jackie worked at Goldfine's as a furniture salesperson and later at the Itasca Clinic in the medical records department. She was also a regular volunteer at Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital. Each year she lovingly sewed Christmas stockings for every baby born at the hospital during the month of December so they could go home in them-one year making nearly 60 stockings.

With her bubbly, kind, sweet, and generous nature, Jackie made friends easily wherever she went. She enjoyed playing golf and Buck Euchre with her girlfriends and family and was famous for giggling while winning at cards. She also loved gardening, knitting, sewing, ceramics, berry picking, and making jams, pies, and her famous Christmas chocolates.

Jackie was a wonderful hostess, and her cooking was both amazing and endless. She was always helping others and took wonderful care of her children and grandchildren. Whenever a new baby was born, Jackie was there to cook, comfort, and care for the family.

Through her example, Jackie May taught her family how to look after one another and live a rich and rewarding life. She was not only our loving mother but also our friend.

We will miss watching Wheel of Fortune with her and all of the love and laughter she gave us, even as her dementia progressed. She is now at peace and, hopefully, in heaven playing cards with her sisters and golfing with our dad. She will be greatly missed here on earth.

The family would like to thank the caring nurses from St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Grand Village for their compassionate care during Jackie's final two weeks.

A celebration of life will be held at Cohaus, 423 NE 6th Ave, Grand Rapids, on Saturday, April 25 beginningat 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM
