Jacques Matt III passed away on July 31, 2024, at the age of 68 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Born on September 15, 1955, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Jacques was a lifelong resident of Louisiana and a dedicated farmer, having spent over 40 years nurturing the land at Matt Farms.
Jacques was known for being fun-loving, hardworking, playful, loyal, silly, and wild. He had an infectious sense of humor and a profound dedication to his family and farming. He graduated from Glen Oaks Highschool in Baton Rouge, LA.
He is survived by his mother, Pattie Killen of Lecompte, LA; siblings Charles Matt (Toni) of Alexandria, LA, Eva Sevier of Baton Ruge, John Matt (Teresa) of Crosby, TX, Suzanne Williams (Mike) of Shreveport, LA, Mary Nelson, Eric Matt, and Margaret Matt all of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind his sons Jacques Matt (Christyn) and Lance Lopez (Laurie) both of Natchitoches, LA, Christopher Matt (Nicole) of Napoleonville, LA, and his daughter, Jana Smith (James) of Lawton, OK. His cherished grandchildren include McCall, Jayce, Caleb Matt of Natchitoches, Cruz Lopez of Natchitoches, and Owen and Bailee Matt of Napoleonville. Jacques was preceded in death by his father, Jack Matt, Jr., step-father, Lloyd Killen, brothers, Patrick Matt and David Matt.
An avid outdoorsman, Jacques enjoyed duck and dove hunting with his children and grandchildren, hog chasing, and putting on elaborate firework shows. He also had a sweet tooth for ice cream, a simple pleasure that brought joy to his adventurous life.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Forest Hill, LA. Visitation will be held on the same day from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Blanchard St Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, is assisting the family during this time. Jacques's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Jacques name.
