Jakey Grider

Jakey Herbert Grider, age 94 of Highlandville, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born on December 19, 1929 in Highlandville, Missouri, the son of H. Bill and Nellie (Essick) Grider. 

Jakey took pride in his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was a talented woodworker by trade. Jakey enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served his country in the U.S. Army. 

Survivors include: two sons, Randy and Shelly Grider of Ozark, and Herbert Grider of Kissimmee, Florida; a daughter, Norene Caswell of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Christina Foumal and husband Josh of Highlandville, Heath Grider of Ava, Shawna Rotramel of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Cody Grider of Sparta, Lori Witchey of Ava, Clinton Grider of St. Louis; nine great grandchildren, Wyatt Grider, Gracelynn Foumal, Brookelynn Foumal, Maddilynn Foumal, Walker Rotramel, Chloe Witchey, Jackson Witchey, Trystan Grider, Katelyn Grider; two great-great grandchildren, Colton Harris and Austin Harris and two sisters, Bonnie Ratliff and Della Haworth. 

Jakey was preceded in death by his parents; his wives Betty in 2008 and Gladys in 2023; a son Earnie Grider, one daughter Judy Grider and his other siblings. 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Reverend Gary Jennings officiating.  Burial will follow in Highlandville Cemetery, Highlandville, Missouri.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. immediately before the funeral in the funeral home.
