Funeral services for James 'Jim' Spore of Starbuck, MN will be held Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN with Don Swenson, S.A.M. officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Fron Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck.

Jim was born on October 4, 1938 in Butterfield, MN. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1956. Jim proudly served our country in the United States Marines Corp from 1957-1960. After his service, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Caren Boettcher in Winnebago. Jim worked as a trucker and then worked at Hanson Telephone Company in Hanska before moving to Starbuck in 1974. He worked in the telephone business for many years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Starbuck VFW Post #4582 and a member of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association. Jim enjoyed ice fishing, going to Truck Stops for a biscuits and gravy breakfast, reading, listening to old country music, and camping with his family. Most importantly, he was a great guy who will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Caren Spore of Starbuck; children, Kenneth (Roxanne) of Starbuck, Ranae Spore of St. Cloud, and Roxann Wiebusch of Apple Valley ; sisters, Elaine Senn of Jacksonville, FL, Yvonne Hanks of Winnebago, Sheryl Leach of Alamogordo, NM, Karen (David) Messer of Redwood Falls, and Pam Richer of Anoka; grandchildren, Karley Bastin (Steve Heck) of Sartell, Craig Spore of Winona, Jack Wiebusch of Orlando, FL, Nick (Connor) Peters of Starbuck and Alex (Tyler) Toop of Glenwood; great grandchild, Harper Heck of Sartell, Rowyn and Hazel Peters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Krosch; brothers in law, Robert Hanks, James Leach, Tom Richer, and Curt Senn.

Jim died on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Fairview Health Center in Minneapolis, MN; he was 87 years old
