James Francis Abdo

James Francis Abdo, 94, of Suffield and formerly of Windsor, beloved husband for 43 years of Cynthia (Vesho) Abdo, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Stafford Springs on August 5, 1922, son of the late George and Margaret (Lewis) Abdo, he was raised in Stafford Springs and was a graduate of Stafford High School, Class of 1940. After high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater during World War II until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1946. After the war, he returned to Connecticut and settled in Windsor in 1958. Jim was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking and worked for over 20 years in the Department of Banking for the State of Connecticut. Jim held various positions in banking regulation with the State of CT and retired as the Assistant Director of Credit Unions in 1986. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Windsor for over 50 years and a member Washington Lodge #70, A.F. & A.M. in Windsor. He leaves a son, Rev. David J. Abdo and his wife Dana of Fresno, CA; two grandsons, David and Eric Abdo of Fresno, CA; two nieces, Sharon Tarantino and Beth Palin and her husband Bruce of Stafford Springs; a nephew, George Abdo and his wife Maureen of Ohio; and many great nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, George Abdo; and four sisters, Florence Tarantino, Martha Abdo, Josephine Abdo, and Margaret Abdo. His family will receive friends on Sunday, March 26, 2-5 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27, 1 p.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Ave., Windsor. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Windsor.
