James Aclin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benton County Funeral Home on Jul. 22, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

James Cal Aclin passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on July 19, 2025, in the home he built with love and his own two hands in Rogers, Arkansas.
Born November 12, 1949, in Searcy, Arkansas, Jim was the son of James O. Aclin and Martha Davidson Aclin McKnight. A veteran, Jim served in the United States Army in the 1970s.
Jim was a gifted woodworker and craftsman, known for creating beautiful, thoughtful pieces-each one infused with his unique touch, love, and flair. He could make anything from wood, and he did so with joy and care.
Jim found the greatest happiness in time spent with family and friends. He was rarely without a story (or four!) and had a knack for making everyone feel at ease with his warmth and humor. When he wasn't in his woodshop, he loved being outdoors, especially fishing, and had a deep appreciation for nature. He was also an avid reader, a history buff, and followed current events closely-never missing a chance to cheer on his Arkansas Razorbacks.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hervey Aclin, his sister Ann Aclin Drummond, stepsisters Lisa McKnight Tipton and Lynn McKnight, and his much-loved stepfather John McKnight. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Booth Aclin, who always remained close in spirit.
Jim was a proud and devoted "bonus dad" to his daughters Lisa Douglas and Mandie Schoemehl, and their husbands Kevin Douglas and John Schoemehl. He was the world's best Grampa to Tali and Keaton Douglas, and Mac, Noah, and William James Schoemehl-all of whom were his "favorite," and he made sure each of them knew it.
Jim was also a beloved uncle to Ashley Delarue, Kathryn Kornegay, and Allison Warner, who all adored him. His life touched countless others-friends and family too numerous to name-whose lives were made better by his stories, his laughter, and his big, kind heart.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences can be shared at www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
A second Celebration of Life will be held in Searcy, Arkansas at a later date.
