James Everett Alexander, 89, passed peacefully on December 15, 2025.

He was born on December 16, 1935, in Beaumont, Texas. Jim joined the United States Army in 1953 and served during the Korean conflict until 1957. He married Judith Denu in 1954, who preceded him in death in 2024. James married Shirley M. Smith in August 1963, who preceded him in death in September 2025.

Jim attended Bonds Chapel in West Baden, Indiana, where he had many close friends. He loved music and playing guitar. He was a guitar player in several bands from 1967-84. As a veteran of the US Army, he was devoted to fellow veterans and loved America. Jim liked traveling with his job and camping in his RV. His favorite hobby was amateur/ham radio operating. In 1957 he became a member of the Pipefitters Union Local 597, following in his father's footsteps. He proudly worked for Morrison Construction for five years as an apprentice, then 17 years as a Mechanical Piping Estimating Engineer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Post No. 250.

He is survived by children, James R. (Lori) Alexander of Valparaiso, Lynn (Mike Jones) May of Washington, Randy (Lori) Alexander of Michigan City, Jenny Ruston of Washington, David (Pam) Alexander of Terre Haute, Carolyn (Wayne) Bethel of Owensboro, Kentucky, Scott (Trish) Alexander of Demotte, Roxanne (Ric) Robinson of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Phillip (Eva) Smith of Leesburg, Florida; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, James Cletus Alexander and Carolyn Corrine (Milligan) Alexander; and two sisters, Hildreth Eriks and Carol Winkler.

Celebration of Life services at Bonds Chapel in West Baden are planned for June 13, 2026. Burial will be at Bonds Chapel Cemetery following the services and cremation in keeping with Jim's wishes.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bonds Chapel Cemetery Association at Bonds Chapel, 8625 CR 810 N., West Baden Springs, IN 47469 in Jim's honor.
