James Richard Ankrom passed away Saturday July 20, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with Dementia.
Mr. Ankrom retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after serving 38 years as a master machinist. Aside from working hard and providing for his family, he was an avid and nationally respected antique fishing lure collector and advisor. He was a member of the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club for over 45 years. He also enjoyed fishing for largemouth bass with his twin sons and grandchildren.
Mr. Ankrom was preceded in death by Father, Ola; Mother, Delphia; and Son, Brian Mark (1979). He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years Jeanette Marie; son, Brett & wife, Cheryl; brother, Larry & Donna; nephew, Michael; niece, Lesa; brother-in-law, Henry & Lisa Braumbaugh; and nephew, Jake. Mr. Ankrom is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron OH, Thursday July 25, from 12-1p.m. with a service immediately following, officiated by Pastor Billy Kremer. Burial will immediately follow at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312.
