James H. Bainbridge II, 83, of Benton, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025 with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20th at the New Diggings Primitive Methodist Church in New Diggings, WI with Rev. Bill Vasey officiating. Burial will follow in the Benton Primitive Methodist Cemetery in Benton, WI. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI; also, on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the New Diggings Primitive Methodist Church in New Diggings, WI. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Jim was born on October 16, 1941 to James "Harry" & Beulah (Symons) Bainbridge in Benton, WI. He was a graduate from Benton High School and from UW-Platteville with a Bachelor's Degree. He married the love of his life, Mary M. Teasdale on March 5, 1960 in Dubuque, IA. Jim worked as a credit counselor for Medical Associates until his retirement in March 2009. He was a member of the New Diggings Primitive Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed playing baseball (Benton Town Team), attending his kids & grandkids school activities & sporting events, following NASCAR, gardening, cooking and making his own maple syrup, but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary (Teasdale) Bainbridge; a daughter, Patricia (Wayne) Neis of Benton, WI, 2 sons: James H. III (Kathy) Bainbridge of Rochester, MN & David (Ann) Bainbridge of Oakwood Hills, IL; 11 grandchildren: Nicholas (Katey) Neis, Allen Neis, Elizabeth (Chris) Schoenmann, Mark (Diedre) Neis, Emma (Brett) Pulvermacher, James IV (Shauna) Bainbridge, Kelly (Eric) Rogelstad, Emily Bainbridge, Jacob Bainbridge, Alex Bainbridge & Sean Bainbridge; 3 step-grandchildren: Cecilia (Zach) Goedert, Kelli Smith & Tom Smith; 13 great-grandchildren: Sam Schoenmann, Khloe, Kynlee & Emmett Neis, Harper, Brady & Elias Pulvermacher, Ellie, Liam & Luke Bainbridge, Jens, Maren & Vivian Rogelstad; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Harwick; a brother-in-law, Bob Roberts; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Beulah Bainbridge, a daughter-in-law, Dee Bainbridge, a sister, Karen (Charles) Booth and a brother, John Bainbridge, sister & brothers-in-law: Keith (Stella) Teasdale, Gary (Grace) Teasdale, Jerry Harwick, Muriel Roberts, Karen (Carl) Farrey, Barbara (Joe) Murray & Sandy (Jeff) Stoney.
In lieu of plants & flowers, a James H. Bainbridge II Memorial Fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of MercyOne Cancer Center and St. Croix Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Jim & his family.
