James "Jim" Owen Baker of Cuba, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in the Cuba Manor at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 13 days. Jim was born June 2, 1934 in Davisville, Missouri to Raymond Floyd Baker and Dora Ethel Martin Baker.
On December 6, 1952, Jim was united in marriage to Emma Clubb and to this union two sons and three daughters were born. In 1966, Emma and their 13-month-old daughter, Beverley Jean, passed away in a car accident. Jim later married Kathy Kimmons on August 15, 1975 expanding the family with her son and daughter.
Jim had been a member of the Davisville Assembly of God Church and later the Cherryville First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, National Farmer's Association (NFO) and Local Teamsters Union #600. For many years, Jim owned the Baker Feed Store in Davisville, Baker Realty (buying and selling many houses in Steelville which became United Realty), was a truck driver for several trucking companies and retired as a school bus driver for Viburnum Schools. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering and finding old wheelbarrows to restore. Jim also took time annually to clean bird houses for the martins and wrens. Most of all Jim loved his family and always looked forward to a visit from them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dora Baker; his first wife, Emma Baker, daughter, Beverley Jean Baker; son-in-law Troy Pyatt; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Grider; brothers, Bill Baker and Joe (Wilma) Baker; sisters, Nadine (Ray) Watson, Virginia (Elba) Wilson and Naomi (Welbon) Halbert.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of forty-six years, Kathy Baker of Cuba, MO; two sons, David (Terry) Baker of Steelville, MO and Dennis (Patty) Baker of Ozark, MO; daughters, Sharon Pyatt of Cuba, MO, and Sandy (Paul) Greathouse of Steelville, MO; step-son, Mark (Suzanne Beauchamp) Kimmons of Brandenburg, KY; and step-daughter, Lisa (Tom) Morgan of Cuba, MO; one sister, Betty Sue (Pete) Gremaud of Pacific, MO; eighteen grandchildren, Beverly Baker, Jeffrey (Dawn) Baker, Kimberly (Shannon) Gehlert, Sherry (Kyle) Brand, Christina (Jared) Brashar, Timothy Baker, Adam (Felicia) Baker, Will (Brittney) Austin, Craig (Sonya) Austin, Katelyn (Mike) Maddox, Travis (Holly) Pyatt, Tyler (fiancé, Emily) Pyatt, Wesley (Molly) Greathouse, Heather (Brett) Davis, David "D.J." Cain, Sean (Destiny) Adkins, Nick Morgan and Olivia (Justin) Basile; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Devan, Dalton, Samantha, Carter, Cody, Joe, Seth, Grant, Jack, Eleanor, Leighkin, Paige, Amber, Courtney, Madison, Kennedy, Owen, Gabriel, Bodie, Lane, Elijah, Evan, Justin, Venice, Serenity and Brantly; one great-great-grandson, Andrew; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021 with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Thank You Lord for your Blessings" and a medley of songs were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman with Bob on guitar. The service was Live streamed on the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home Facebook page.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Davisville Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Jeff Baker, Dalton Baker, Adam Baker, Tyler Pyatt, Wesley Greathouse, Jared Asher and Shannon Gehlert.
