James Ballinger Obituary
Jim was born December 2, 1965, in Louisville, Kentucky. He achieved his law degree from the University of Louisville. Known to many on the river as "The Mayor", Jim so enjoyed his friends and loved his river family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Allen Ballinger and his mother, Jane Marie Hellmann.
Jim is survived by his dad, William "David" Ballinger and his mom, Mary "Charlene" Ballinger; sister, Julia "Julie" Sanders (Bobby); nephew, Michael Hirsch; and niece, Lili Sanders. He was loved by so many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, June 17, 2023, 10:00am – 7:00pm at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 22, 2023, beginning at 4pm at Harrods Creek Tavern, 6313 River Rd, Prospect, KY 40059.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

I got to know Jim several years ago through one of his best friends Ernie Frye and Jim's love of Corvettes. I remember being at Beach Bend raceway in KY years ago when Jim was racing his 1967 Corvette. Always enjoyed his southern accent. Jim will be joining his old friend Ernie now. RIP Jim.

great friend inspiration to a lot of people will be missed dearly and not just me but friends and family I didn't see him that often but when we did run in to each other we talked about the good old days and even never blow me off he would always have time for you life is short so take time and your day to remember and talk to each other because one day you may not get to talk to them again. But you always have them in your heart
