Obituary of James W. Baretsky
HUDSON –
James W. Baretsky passed away on April 27, 2024. He was born in Hudson, New York on January 27, 1945.
Jim attended St. Mary's School, Pratt School of Art and Mohawk Valley Community College where he received a Degree of Associate in Applied Science Majoring in Advertising Design and Production. He served in the Navy (1967-1971).
Jim worked for the Register Star Newspaper as Production Manager until he retired in 2006. His passion was art. He loved to do pencil sketches and oil paintings of animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking and working in his garden. He volunteered his time doing wildlife rescue. Jim was a lifetime member of the Hudson Fish and Game Club.
He is predeceased by his parents Peter Baretsky and Lily (Thorpe) Baretsky.
Jim is survived by his wife, Doreen Grand-Baretsky. Also by their grandchildren, Amya, Dylan, Ashlyn, Isabella and Gabrielle. Daughter, Sarah Anderson (and husband Arnie). Stepson, Zachary Bray. His brother, Peter Baretsky (and wife, Jean) of Dannemora, NY and his nieces and nephews: Chris Baretsky (and wife, Patty) Peter John Baretsky (and wife, Melissa) Heather Stract (and husband T.J.) Mary Maye (and husband, Mark) Bernadette Dion (and husband, Paul), Trish Baretsky and his great nieces and nephews as well as great, great nieces and nephews also survive.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
James will be buried at the on Saturday June 1, 2024 at 12 Noon with a Graveside Prayer and Honor Guard Ceremony.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the Ancram Fire House.
