James "Jim" Jae Barnard, 59, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 6:05 PM Sunday, December 21, 2025 at his home with family by his side.
Graveside services and burial with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in West Ely, MO. Pastor Scott Salo will officiate.
Friends and Family are invited to Jim's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Jim was born December 5, 1966, in Hannibal, MO to Albert Lee Barnard and Lora Belle Billings Barnard. He was married to Allison Givan on May 14, 2011 in Hannibal, MO. She survives.
Also surviving are three children: Wyatt Johnson (Lexie), Dylan Johnson (Alexis), and Erin Bangert (Craig); his twin sister, Jennifer Barnard; two twin brothers, Corey and Chris Barnard; three sisters: Connie Barnard, Cheryl Williams (Dennis), and Cindy Epperson (Pete); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Rada Givan; four grandchildren: Layla and Everly Johnson and Finnley and Magnolia Bangert; one sister-in-law, April Moore (Ken); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, serving in Grenada on the U.S.S. Iowa.
Professionally, Jim retired from the maintenance department for the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department after working 26 years.
Away from work, Jim loved being outdoors, mowing, and golfing. A talented woodworker, Jim was good at repurposing and refinishing antiques. Watching Mizzou Football, St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, and listening to the Hannibal Pirate teams on the radio were a few of Jim's favorites. Jim was a wonderful cook and made some of the most delicious chili and barbecue. Most of all, Jim cherished the time he could spend with friends and family, and he will be dearly missed.
Jim was a Christian by faith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Cancer Center in honor of Jim.
Pallbearers will be Robert Vaughn, Eric McNeal, Brian Evans, Steve Wilson, Wyatt Johnson, and Dylan Johnson.
