I grew up two doors down from the Beetsch's on Colfax Ave, and Jim was a great friend for a kid to have. He was funny, fearless, athletic, and way better than any of us at anything we tried to do. In my mind, he's still whistling me awake from the top of his garage to go fishing in the dawn at Lake Harriet, and kicking footballs farther than any kid should be able to way down Colfax, as the dusk gathers, darkness settles, and he disappears from my sight.

My thoughts are with the Beetsch's and Jim's children and close friends. I am so sorry for your loss.

We are so sad to learn of Jim's death. We think of him as Jamie, David's little friend in grade school. I remember taking little trips in the TR3, both boys in the wee 'backseat' and I shudder to think of those days without seat belts!! We will be out of town for the service and I am so sorry we can't be there. We mourn with you.
