Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and coach passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at his home, with his family at his side; at the age of 64 years.
The son of the late James Wilfred and Helen Mae (Todd) Belanger, Jim was born on January 19, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Godwin High School with the class of 1978. He married Laurenda A. Near on February 7, 1980. She survives him. Jim was a successful businessman, owning Milltown Woodworks, Duane’s Saw Sharpening Service, and A&B Display Systems in Bay City, Michigan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, training dogs, traveling, coaching as well as playing sports. Jim was a proud Tigers and Red Wings fan who enjoyed watching as well as attending games. He had a very special relationship with his former brother-in-law, Jerry Meyer who remained his best friend throughout the years. His friends and family will always remember the good times spent with him, especially the cherished time with his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife of 42 years, Laurenda Belanger; are their daughter and son, Amber Belanger, James and his wife, Heidi Belanger; three grandchildren, Ryan, Coltin, and Grace; sister, Christine Meyer; and two brothers, Dan (Donna) Belanger, David (Linda) Belanger. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.
Prayer Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Honoring James’ wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral chapel.
