Wow, this saddens me as I was meaning to reach out and talk with my friend. We had so many adventures when we were young. We worked for the Haskel Company on the Dial Upchurch remodel. My favorite story; we were fishing for bass at night in Rodman Resevoir. J was working those early shifts at UPS so he would often fall asleep while I fished. If they started biting I would wake him up. We were fishing a bend in the Oklawaha channel, J sound asleep and me casting down the tree line. There was no moon that night, pitch black, the air was heavy and still. Then something big struck my muskie jitterbug but no hook up. I cast it out again and something big struck several times and about that time J woke up. I grabbed the Qbeam spotlight to see what was out there. The light revealed at least a dozen alligators lined up waiting on that jitterbug to come back through. J said, My God and went to stand up neglecting his rod resting in his lap and over the side went his pole. I swung around with the light as he was reaching into the water only to reveal a massive 10 foot alligator inches from his hand as he grasped his pole. After that J was awake the rest of the night.

I am so sad to hear of J´s passing. He was always so happy and once you were friends with him it was lifelong. One night about 30 yrs ago my date said I want to take you to meet my best friend. Well, when J opened the door we were both surprised to see each other. It´s a small world and J has touched many people with his smile and charm. Condolences to the family. May God guide you and help you through the loss of this special man.
