I met James in 1964 when we were both in the Air Force. Studied Russian with him at Indiana University. We then went through intelligence training together in Texas. We both got assigned to the same overseas base in Turkey. We worked closely together there for eighteen months before returning stateside for discharge. We´ve stayed in close contact over the years. I learned of his many medical problems that he managed to overcome. His passing came as a surprise.
I will miss him very much. He was a dear friend.
