James Bitz Obituary

James (Jim) Richard Bitz was born on October 4th, 1949, in Jamestown to Constant and Katherine (Werlinger) Bitz, the fifth of ten children. He was raised on the family's dairy farm north of Edgeley. He was baptized and confirmed at Transfiguration Catholic Church and attended school in Edgeley. Jim volunteered for the United States Army in January 1969 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in August 1970 and returned to North Dakota to attend college and work.

On June 2, 1973, Jim was united in marriage to Connie (Frauenberg) Bitz, they lived in Minneapolis and Edgeley, and they eventually found their home south of LaMoure where they raised livestock, small grains and row crops and their family. While Jim worked hard, his greatest joy was always his family. Jim's children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he treasured every moment with them.

Jim worked hard every day and taught his children and grandchildren the value of work and resiliency. He enjoyed staying busy and served as a member of the Farmers Union Oil Company board, vacationing with his wife and attending his children's and grandchildren's events. Jim was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and LaMoure American Legion. Jim passed away on Sunday, December 14th, 2025.

Jim is survived by his wife, Connie of LaMoure; his children, Kimberly (Nathan) Robbins of LaMoure, Kelli (Christof) Just of Berlin, Kari (Joseph) Tews of Rogers, MN and Kasey (Alissa Armstrong) of LaMoure. Grandchildren Karly, Katrina and Cole Just, and Mollie and Addie Robbins, siblings; Betty (Ron) Pratt, Larry Bitz, Shirley (Bob) Dietrich, Bernadette Mayfield, Mary Winkler, Carol (Dale) Zetocha; Janet Bitz, Geraldine Courtney and Rick Bitz, mother-in-law Ilene Frauenberg, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Albert Frauenberg, brothers-in-law Jerry Mayfield, Kurt Courtney and Jerry Winkler, and nephew Clint Bitz.
