James Bogdan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony G. Staab Funeral Home on Jan. 10, 2026.
Age 77, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Loving father of Jeanine Bogdan, James (Jennifer) Bogdan, and Jessica (the late Alex) Gordon. Grandfather of Isabella Bogdan, Jameson Bogdan, and Genevieve Bogdan. Son of the late Stanley and Gertrude (Flannery) Bogdan. Brother of Stanley "Stush" (Sandy) Bogdan and the late Ronald (Lucy-still surviving) Bogdan. He is remembered by longstanding and trusted friends: Jan Pendergast, Henry Berendowski, and Al Cox.

Jim's passion for college football led him to write and publish a book, Quarterbacks, about the famous quarterbacks who emerged from Western Pennsylvania. He was a teacher for nearly 35 years in the Hancock County School System in West Virginia, where he was a proud track and field coach.

As per Jim's wishes, there will be no services. Interment will be held privately. Arrangements are entrusted to ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15220. To leave a memory of Jim, visit our website: www.staabfuneral.com.

My sincere condolences to you Jeanine..and your brother and sister.

I share in your grief knowing how much your dad loved you and that time goes by so quickly.

I've known him since he visited in Michigan and he and I developed a friendship over the years. He always asked me to look after you!

Going to the Polish Club near you in Pittsburgh was a highlight. He was so proud.

So I will look after his Nini and remember him with love. May he Rest In Peace.
