Dr. James Henry Booth IV, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2025. Dr. Booth, a 45-year resident of Plymouth Township, PA, was born April 4, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, to Jewell Blauvelt and James H. Booth III. He was married to Joan Curley Booth for over 23 years.

He is survived by his children: Dana Juliet Elyse Booth of Boothwyn, PA; Stephanie Alexandra Miller of Alexandria, VA; James Henry (Crystal) Booth V of Trappe, PA; Karen-Susanne (William) Whitlock of Coatesville, PA; and Michael (Barbara) McGuire of Green Cove Springs, FL; his grandchildren: Ian V. Booth, James H. Booth VI, Nathanael J.R. Whitlock, Alexandra M. Whitlock, Joshua McGuire, Jason McGuire, Michael P. (Karen) McGuire, Melissa (Billy) Garnes, Rachel (Dan) Katz, Christina (Ian) McGuire Villarreal, Isaiah Norman, and Renee McGuire; his great grandchildren: Belladonna Schultz, Raven Thompson, Lynx Thompson, Olivia McGuire, Gryphon Norman, Abigail Katz, Alexander Villarreal, Josie Katz, Mily Braley, Julia Villarreal, Alexis McGuire, Bishop Norman, Hunter Kauff, Shalyn Mash, Cierra (Timothy) Leigh, Garrison Katz, Ashley Laudermilt, and Christopher (Anita) Laudermilt; his nieces and nephews: Victoria Murphy, JoePat (Terri) Evans, Sandra Keirsey, Timothy (Kim) Evans, Mark (Lynann) Evans, and Elizabeth (Daniel) Thompson; his grandnieces and nephews: Jillian Evans, Aaron Williams, Jesse (Aimee) Evans, Joel Evans, Samantha (Josh) Evans, Nicholas Evans, Melissa Evans, Ian Evans, Samantha Keirsey, Timothy (Jill) Evans, Jr., Daniel (Nicole) Thompson, Jr., and Christine (Dallas) Clevenger. Jim also leaves behind 8 great-great grandchildren, more than 10 great grandnieces and nephews, and his sisters-in-law, Susan Murphy and Anne Bruno.

He was pre-deceased by his father and mother; Elsie Booth, his aunt; Harriet Daley, his sister-in-law; Trista Booth, his granddaughter; James Braley, his grandson; Carolyn McGuire Norman, his daughter; and his beloved wife Joan.

After graduation from high school in Kearny, NJ, he earned his undergraduate degree from Franklin & Marshall University in Lancaster, PA, and his Ph.D. in psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He worked as an associate professor of psychology at Community College of Philadelphia for over 15 years and at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, as an adjunct professor. While employed at CCP, he published the P.S.I. Workbook for Mastering 'Fundamentals of Psychology' and co-authored other peer-reviewed journal articles.

Growing up as an only child, it brought Jim great joy to come to have a large family both through his children and inherited through in-laws. In addition to enjoying time with his family, he also loved animals, always having a lap for a cat, but not-so-secretly favoring bulldogs above all else. He had a deep appreciation for a spectrum of music and films and amassed wide-ranging collections of vinyl LPs, CDs, and DVDs, as well as an impressive library of books. He was an avid SLR photographer with a preference for slide photography. As an amateur record-keeper and archivist, he was particularly fond of tracing his family's genealogy, which included maintaining membership in the Association of Blauvelt Descendants. Following in the footsteps of his father, a NYSE floor trader, he enjoyed following financial markets and self-managing a portion of his investments. And he will be remembered fondly as a true "do-it-yourselfer," skilled in everything from woodworking and auto repair to home projects.

He was a deacon at Pilgrim Church and its predecessor congregation Talmage Memorial Fourth Reformed Church for many years.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Dr. Booth's life on Saturday, November 22, at Pilgrim Church, 3815 Terrace Street, Philadelphia, PA, where he was a member for 50 years. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 12 noon. Burial private. Arrangements by the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Brookhaven, PA, 19015.
