Mr. James McKinney Boyce known as "Bootsie Cat" by family and friends, was born on March 4, 1974 in Newberry, South Carolina to Bonnie Boyce Knight and the late Barnell Bouey. He departed this walk of life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in Columbia, South Carolina.

James attended Newberry County Public schools. He had a love for dogs and fishing. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed making others laugh.

He leaves to cherish his memories two son, Shaquan Boyce and James Boyce of Columbia, SC; three daughters, Daquandra Boyce of Columbia, SC, Asia Boyce of Aiken, SC and Allison; five sisters, Tina Perrin, Angela (Twon) Caldwell of Greenwood, SC, Stephanie Etheredge of Lexington, SC, Shameeka Wallace of Mountville, SC and Stacey Williams of Charlotte, NC; brother Steven Williams of Greenville, SC; one granddaughter, Ava Boyce of Columbia, SC; two uncles, Willie Boyce, Jr. of Chappells, SC and John Davis of Abbeville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 31, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 109 Broken Ridge Court, Greenwood, SC 29646.
