Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I always enjoyed the times our family spent with him and Gloria. I especially remember fun times at Clear Lake when Jim was very patient trying to teach me to water ski, not very successfully, but still fun.
I have sent a donation to the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry in his memory and send my deepest condolences to all of his family.

My deepest sympathies to Jim's family. I first met Him as a twenty something in the 1980s through the East Des Moines Chamber of Commerce. Jim was Mr.East Des Moines in a very positive way. My first major project as a chamber of Commerce manager was to work with Jim and others on the EDM Celebration of Progress. We had several celebrations because so much was happening back then. I believe much of the changes on the Eastside would not have happened but for Jim's leadership. My life was positively impacted by Jim. Thanks for living and sharing your life dreams with us.

Jim was a great guy. Everyone who is thrilled by the renaissance of downtown Des Moines owes him a debt of gratitude. He was a true pioneer in seeing the potential of what is now the East Village. Even more, he got the ball rolling by rolling up his sleeves and renovating the building he owned. Lead by example. Attend meetings. Be a cheerleader. That is Jim.

He was a good Catholic role model to a convert like me. I loved his story of taking Fr. Ostdiek to meet Pope John Paul II at the airport when he came to Iowa. Jim shall very much be missed, but not forgotten.

I worked at WHO-TV from 1968 thru 1972. And somewhere in that period, Jim asked me to shoot some 16mm film for one of his clients. (My FIRST freelance job.) I didn't have a company name at that time, so when Jim mailed the check to my home address, he GAVE me a 'company name' on the envelope "HADLEY, HARDLY, BARELY & MIGHT PRODUCTIONS." I still relish telling that story. May everyone's memories of him be a blessing. Bruce Hadley, Hadley Creative Services Inc.

I always enjoyed talking to Jim and listening to his
point of view on life. He seemed to have a story for every situation and subject. My condolences to the family and I am sure he rests with God.

He was like a second father to me. He will be missed by all who knew him. As many know, he and I will always have "our bathrobe".
