James H. Brabant, better known as "Big Jim", passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 25th, at age 63. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Tonya Brabant, his 3 sons, 4 grandchildren, and many other loved ones. Jim was born on January 15th, 1961 to parents Joseph and Elizabeth "Betty" Brabant. He is the loving husband of Tonya (Hensley) Brabant, and the father of Jimmy (Kristin) Brabant, Eric (Becka) Brabant, and Tyler Brabant. Grandfather to Kylee, Cayden, Elijah, and Khloie; brother of Sammy Brabant, John (Pam) Brabant, Nancy Brabant, Connie Brabant-Mayes, and Tommy (Jennifer) Brabant. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph, and siblings Sammy and Nancy.
Jim loved fishing with his family. Some of his best memories are shared with Sam and Bonnie at Cedar Lake in Goshen, Oh. He enjoyed betting on horses at River Downs. Jim was fond of all sports, especially the NFL, college basketball, and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt. Jim's favorite vehicle was a Monte Carlo, he owned several throughout his life. As a young man, Jim proudly served his country as a Marine, stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing the lottery and watching movies, especially action films starring Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris. Jim loved his family dearly including his four Beagles, Tyson, Sissy, Precious, and Lacy. Jim was a kind, patient, and generous man, known to always put others first. He will be very missed by all who loved him.
Family will be receiving friends and loved ones on Monday, April 1st, 2024 at 10:00 am for visitation, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. The service is held at Moore Family Funeral Homes (Newtown location) 6708 Main St., Cincinnati, OH, 45244. The burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, located at 686 Mt Moriah Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45245.
