James Winston Bracey Jr.
March 28, 1943- December 13, 2024
James Winston Bracey Jr., 81 of Tylertown, MS passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at Southwest MS Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Sunday, March 28, 1943 to the late James Winston Bracey and Mandy Lea Rushing Bracey. Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his brother, Brent Bracey; and brother in law, Robert Guy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS from 11:00 AM until funeral service at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in the Tylertown Cemetery II. Brother Mark Wicker and Brother David Watson will officiate. Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home is overseeing the arrangements.
James was a Southwest Mississippi Community College campus police officer for 28 years until his retirement. However, his true joy and passion was working on his farm and raising his cattle. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He loved his Church family and neighbors in the Salem Community. We would all agree that his greatest blessing in life was his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. He always put them first and took great pride in making memories with them. Although he leaves behind a huge hole that will never be filled in the hearts of all who loved him, he now rests in a heavenly place. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ledonia Hughes Bracey; daughters, Paula McBeth (Kelvin) and Rhonda Summers (Bryan); grandchildren, Garrett McBeth (Samantha), Kaleb McBeth (Hannah Kate), Brandalynn Brazell (Luke), and Mitchell Summers; great grandchildren, Hudson McBeth, Wyatt McBeth, and Kaylynn Brazell; sister, Barbara Guy; brother in-law, Edward Hughes (Linda), sister in-law, Wilkie Cutrer, sister in-law, Shannon Landen (Carl), sister in-law, Kathy Bracey, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers will be Kelvin McBeth, Bryan Summers, Garrett McBeth, Kaleb McBeth, Lucas Thornton, and Dan Hawn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Boyd, Jerry King, Jeff Holmes, Jimmy Holmes, Charles Boyd, Bobby Pope, Brett Guy, Brian Guy, Luke Brazell, and Mitchell Summers.
