James Edward Brown, a beloved father, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 6, 1942, in Elberton, Georgia to the late Horace James Brown and Betsy Irene Brown. James lived a full and vibrant life that touched many hearts.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, James dedicated his youth to serving his country. He owned Brown's Garage and was an auto mechanic for over 30 years. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing on Lake Hartwell with grandson Brandon, working on cars, watching westerns and spending time with his family.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Horace James Brown and Betsy Irene Brown, his siblings, Horace Brown Jr, George Brown, Rosie Guest, and Myrtle Irene Phillips.

James is survived by his wife, Fay M. Brown, sons, Michael Edward Brown of Athens Georgia and James Samuel Brown of Bowman Georgia and daughter Teresa Lynn Rideway of Bowman Georgia, grandchildren, Robert Stockton, Brandon Stockton, Kayla Ann Wood, Cody Brown, Lindsey McCall, and eight great-grandchildren . He will also be deeply missed by his sister, Elizabeth Collins and many beloved nieces and nephews who shared countless memories and laughter with their Uncle James. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be carried on by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors with a funeral service following the visitation time in the chapel. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the impactful life he led. Further details regarding the arrangements will be shared soon, allowing all who knew James to come together in remembrance of a remarkable man.

As we reflect on James's life, we remember his warm spirit, unwavering love for family, and commitment to service. His memory will forever live on in our hearts. He instilled in his family the values of honor, respect, and perseverance. After his service, he returned to Georgia, where he cultivated a life rich in love and family. He resided in Bowman, Georgia, where he became a fixture in his community, known for his kindness and unwavering support.
