James W. Burdge, 83, of East Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his residence.
Born on November 11, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Pearl (Varner) Burdge. On August 28, 1965 he married his surviving wife, Mary C. (Peck) Burdge with whom he was blessed to share over 59 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Keith Burdge and wife, Trudy of Blairs Mills, Michael Burdge and his wife, Kristi of East Waterford, Jennifer Hile and her husband, Roger of Mifflin, a sister Dorothy Hart, grandchildren, Jeffery and his wife, Heather, Fred and his wife, Lindsey, Zachary and his wife, Kassie, Cody and Allison. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Noah, Dakota, Adalynn and Issac. In addition to his parents Mr. Burdge was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Avery Burdge.
James was a 1959 graduate of Juniata Joint High School. He worked as a Assistant Manager for Penn Dot, in road construction. He was a member of the Richvale United Methodist Church. He loved to fish. James enjoyed building things and working with wood, which included making cedar chests. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11,2025 at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc. 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Patty Hall officiating. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 10,2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Burdge's memory may be made to the Richvale United Methodist Church, c/o-Kristi Burdge, 1212 Route 35 South, East Waterford, PA 17021.
