James John Cabebe Jr., born on December 28, 1959, in Vallejo, California, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Portland, Oregon leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. A devoted husband, James married Cory on July 29, 2023, in Lincoln City, Oregon.
James was born in California, but mainly grew up between the Philippines and Hawaii in his younger years. Eventually as an adult he would live between Idaho, Vegas until finally settling in Oregon.
James was a talented chef, known for his incredible ability to create something special out of nothing. He worked tirelessly, often holding two to three jobs to support his family, including cooking at Spirit Mountain. Affectionately known to many that he worked with as "Chef Kimo" or "Habib".
Despite his busy schedule, James always made time for what mattered most-his family. Whether he was working on cars, fishing, remodeling their home, or simply being a dad or grandpa to anyone of his children's or grandchildren's friends, he would give the shirt off his back.
His sense of humor and love for a good time made him the life of any gathering. He was a father figure and a friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand. Above all, James loved his family more than life itself.
James is preceded in death by his brothers Lou and Jay, and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cory; children, Toby (Sherry), Kelly, Casey, Kimberly (Sakar), Sachet (Steven), Keisha, and Dana; siblings, Alan, Rennie, and Nadine; 19 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild in addition to many extended family and friends.
James will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
