James Cannon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bordentown Home for Funerals on Jul. 4, 2025.
James R. Cannon, 89 Retired Bordentown City Police Sergeant, Patriarch of His Family
James R. Cannon, 89, of Bordentown City, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born in Trenton, Jim was a lifelong resident of Bordentown City. He proudly served in the United States Army, enlisting in 1959 and received an honorable discharge in 1961. After returning home, he joined the Bordentown City Police Department, where he served with dedication and integrity for 25 years, retiring as a sergeant in 1986.
Jim was a proud member of the FOP Burlington County Lodge #2, the Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085, and the Consolidated Fire Association. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, miniature golf, and western movies. He was happiest surrounded by nature-or his family. As the proud patriarch of the Cannon family, Jim's steady presence, quiet strength, and unconditional love were the heart of countless family memories. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Cannon. He is survived by his children and spouses, Robert Cannon and John Condron, Richard and Jenna Cannon; his grandchildren, Jarrod and Devon Cannon; and his dear friend and breakfast buddy, Virgil Sprott. Known to his grandchildren as "Pop-Pop," Jim will be remembered for his deep love of family, his service to community and country, and the legacy of kindness and strength he leaves behind.
