James Christy Obituary

James William Christy, 67, of Salem Township, passed away in his home Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022. He was born Nov. 29, 1954, in Greensburg, to the late George and Nona (McLaughlin) Christy. During his early adulthood, Jim enjoyed being a golf caddie. He was a Navy veteran who served from 1982 until 1988 as a dynamic telephone repairman aboard the USS Durham LKA-114. After his honorable discharge, he was a painter in the construction industry. Jim enjoyed socializing with his good friends and was a longtime member of Slickville American Legion, VFW Post 33 and the Hostetter Slovak Club. Jim had an exceptional soft spot in his heart for animals and enjoyed life with his cats. Jim is survived by two nephews, several cousins and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mel Christy. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, in the Eastview Union Cemetery, E. Pittsburgh St., Delmont. A meal will follow at the Hostetter Slovak Club for those in attendance. Arrangements are entrusted to BASH-NIED-JOBE FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381.
