James Charles "Jimmy" Clayton, Jr., 59 year old Amarillo, Texas resident, passed away suddenly on October 24, 2025 at the lake house surrounded by his wife and all his sisters and brothers while having a fun weekend away. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Cedardale Cemetery, east of Mooreland, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
James Charles Clayton, Jr. was born June 3, 1966 in Pocatello, Idaho to J.C. and Totsie (Pierce) Clayton. Jimmy grew up in several cities but called Van Horn, Texas his hometown. He went to Van Horn High School but moved his last semester and graduated in Artesia, New Mexico. He was united in marriage to Margaret "Maggie" Hendricks on October 19, 2002 in Elgin, Texas. They made their first home in Elgin, Texas and also lived in Van Horn, Texas, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Pampa, Texas, and Amarillo, Texas.
He went to work and recently retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after having done construction for several years.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Christopher and Faneita Pierce, paternal grandparents, Charles and Lelia Clayton, five uncles, five aunts, two cousins, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Rose Ida Hendricks.
He is survived by his wife Maggie Clayton; parents, J.C. and Totsie Clayton; sisters: Mary and Tony Karr, Betty and Victor Alvarado; one brother, Billy and Faith Clayton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tim and Laman Hendricks, Kim and Kimberly Allain, Becky and Jerry Reese; 14 nieces and nephews; over 20 great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces; three great-great babies on the way; other relatives and many friends.
