James Robert Cooper, 72, of Borden, IN, passed away Thanksgiving afternoon November 27, 2025 at 2:05 pm at Hillcrest Centre in Jefferson, IN., after suffering a massive stroke in early October. James was born on July 27, 1953 to Oscar Ola Cooper and Eugenia (Beacham) Cooper in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Jim was a 1972 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School, New Castle, IN and Holmes Community College, Goodman, MS. He worked at Chrysler Factory in New Castle, IN, Iron Workers in California, Gordon Trucking in Washington, and Heartland Express in Nebraska.
Jimmy is survived by his brothers, John David (Lavena) Cooper, whom he resided with the last 6 years of Borden, IN, Barry Gene (Angela) Cooper of Anderson, IN; sisters, Rose Marie (Thomas) Kramer of New Castle, IN, Mary Carol (Jay) Savage of Flemingsburg, KY, Ruth Ann (James) Curtis of Mooreland, IN, Sandra Kaye (Daryl) Mobley of Brandon, MS; several nieces and nephews, Jack (Alycia) Turner, Joda Bell, Cathy (Bob) Stainbrook, Michael Kramer, Jill Kramer, Jason (Kirstie) Curtis, Carrie (Kenny) Cooper, Jay Savage II, Courtney Cooper, Amy (Matthew) Different, Haley (Wil) McMullen; all the greats (aka Puppies), Olivia (Derek) Turner, Trey (Jaci) Turner, Delyla Bell, Marley Bell, Jacob (Shelby) Kramer Sophia Kramer, Robbie Stainbrook, Kaysen Curtis, Cayde Curtis, Callie Curtis, Luke Ray; Levi Ray, Hunter Gill, Dean Different, Anna Different, Luke Different, and Finn Different.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Southside Church of Christ, 2805 South State Road 103 New Castle, IN 47362 with Bob Pierce officiating. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to Southside Church of Christ, in memory of James Robert Cooper.
